Dubai Police and COM-IoT Technologies Sign MoU to Cooperate on Advanced Traffic Safety Technology Development

Both parties will collaborate to build traffic safety solutions enhanced with an artificial intelligence toolkit

DUBAI, December 7, 2017 – The Dubai Police signed a memorandum of understanding with COM-IoT Technologies last week, the Dubai-based startup developing artificial intelligence-based smart city solutions, concerning the building of intelligent traffic safety machines. The event was the culmination of COM-IoT Technologies’ participation in the nine-week Dubai Future Accelerators third cohort which began in October.

The memorandum signifies both parties’ intention to work together to build AI-based traffic safety technology. During the pilot program, COM-IoT Technologies will provide Dubai Police with its proprietary hardware to be fitted both inside police cars and on specific roadsides across Dubai to enable machine learning-enhanced traffic violation detection.

The connected, intelligent systems are designed to increase the efficiency and accuracy of traffic violation detection and to reduce law enforcement response time through autonomous, real-time communication with control centers. The understanding highlights COM-IoT Technologies’ commitment to helping the UAE realize its goal to reduce road fatalities to 2.5 for every 100,000 people.

On the occasion of the signing, Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Accelerators commented, “The Accelerators program is committed to providing an optimized platform that facilitates cooperation and fosters strong partnerships between participating companies and government entities.

“The MoU between COM-IoT and Dubai Police underlines DFA’s pioneering position in terms of embracing challenges and transforming them into solutions for the benefit of society. It also reflects the program’s commitment to the UAE leadership’s directives to support innovation and attract the brightest minds to work together and shape a better future.”

On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Mohamed Sadek, Founder of COM-IoT Technologies said, “This MoU symbolizes our and the Dubai Police’s deep enthusiasm for the potential of the artificial intelligence toolkit to transform traffic safety and the security of our communities. We are thrilled to be continuing to work diligently with the Dubai Police to make our shared vision a reality.”

Dubai Police will work closely with COM-IoT Technologies sharing ideas, knowledge, information and technologies over a designated period to prepare the technology, ensuring the outlined objectives are met.
